THE Hip-hop theater explosion!

october 24 - November 2, 2024

In a symbolic show of unity between Latinx and Black communities, the historic Ballet East Dance Company in partnership with ZM3LiveProductions and Guerrilla Reel Multimedia are proud to present The Hip-Hop Theater Explosion!

This unity gathering assembles on the eve of the biggest election in our lifetime, using the vehicle of hip-hop culture minus the misogyny.

Hosted and curated by Austin Hall of Fame hip-hop theater artist Zell Miller, III and featuring DJ Notion, this variety show is a lyrical, spiritual, soul moving experience highlighting the four elements of hip-hop culture--b-boying, DJing, MCing, and graffiti artistry--to call on the revolutionary spirit of oneness.

The Hip-Hop Theater Explosion! brings under one roof some of the most amazing artists in the city, including Jeffery “DaShade Moonbeam” Johnson, Queen Deelah, Nick Cruz, Sol Xprsn, dancers from Ballet East, B-boy Justdre, tap goddess Siobhan Cook, soul singer Infinity Jones, Chelsea Manasseri, slam poet champion Christopher Michael, and word slingers Jonathan Ezemba, Jasmine Games, Mirakol Jade, and Mecca Miles. (Not all performers will appear every night.)

This one-of-a-kind show will lift your spirits and souls and have you dancing to the election booth! The evening will end with a giant cipher featuring all the performers. The cipher is a universal symbol of unity, combining the four elements of hip-hop. We welcome you to our cipher--bring your good vibes and be ready to be blown away by the magic of these amazing performances.

Only five performances, 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday October 24-26 and Friday and Saturday November 1 - 2, at the historic Hyde Park Theatre. Tickets are $15.00 dollars and are available now.
