BUT FIRST, our top story: this trailer for HPT's production of Tragedy: a tragedy:

"TRAGEDY: a tragedy" by Will Eno at Hyde Park Theatre from Eric Graham on Vimeo.

THIS JUST IN: lovely little rave from the Austin American Statesman, which says our production of Tragedy: a tragedy "feels like a delightfully strange hybrid of Samuel Beckett and Stephen Colbert."

And another from the Austin Chronicle: "Eno's work fits with a wonderful peculiarity into the framework of intelligent, off-the-beaten-path plays that Artistic Director Ken Webster has established as the company's hallmark. . . . Each member of this tight ensemble plays his or her role with distinct craft . . . Classic Eno and classic HPT."

Austin Live Theatre loved it, too, calling it a "cyclone of humor" and "a comedy with an emotional edge."

Will the sun rise again? It's looking unlikely, but no worries: our crack news team is on the story.

From Will Eno, who wrote HPT hits Thom Pain (based on nothing) and Middletown. Theatremania called Tragedy: a tragedy "A charming display of witty satire in the face of Armageddon. . . . this 75-minute play serves as a big ol' poke in the eye to media in an age of geopolitical uncertainty, pending disaster, and a preoccupation with ratings."

The play stars Nahila Bonfiglio, Nathan Brockett, Michael Ferstenfeld, Molly Karrasch, Benjamin Summers, and Ken Webster. Directed by Ken Webster.

The show runs at 8:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, September 12 - October 12, 2013. For the first four weeks (September 12 - October 5) Friday and Saturday tickets are $20 ($18 for students, seniors, military, and Austin Creative Alliance members). For the final weekend (October 10-12) tickets are $22 ($20 for students, seniors, military, and Austin Creative Alliance members). Purchase tickets online or call 479-PLAY (7529) for reservations.
