Welcome to the wild, deep, and captivating tour de force that is Judith, by Katie Bender.

The plot--which does not begin to convey the mayhem and lust and hilarity of this show--is as follows: Judith, dressed as a man, moves to London to stand trial in her absent brother's place. When the trial goes badly, Judith begins to write plays to please the Queen and restore her brother's good name. (And who is her brother? have you guessed yet?)

Written by Katie Bender from an initial concept by Olivia D'Ambrosio Scanlon, this solo show about ambition, artistry, love and Shakespeare is directed by Madge Darlington (you know her from Austin's world-renowned Rude Mechs) and features the pretty darn magnificent Taylor Flanagan. The play runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM, August 4 - September 3.

Thursdays are Pay What You Can Nights at the door. The first four weekends (August 4-27), Friday tickets are $24 and Saturday tickets are $26. For the final weekend (September 1-3), Friday tickets are $26 and Saturday tickets are $28. Tickets are $2 off for students, seniors, military, and Austin Creative Alliance/Austin Film Society members). Purchase tickets online or call 512-479-PLAY (7529) for reservations.
